Port Glasgow

Since 05 / 10 to 17 / 12 | 10h - 19h

In 2004, during a year-long residency in Scotland, Mark Neville criss-crossed Port Glasgow, ravaged by the economic crisis. The inhabitants were suffering from the closure of the shipyards. The photographer decided to join the community of this Scottish town to carry out a documentary experiment with the addition of some fictional elements. Beyond the photographic project, “Port Glasgow” was conceived as a public art project. The 8,000 copies of the book were distributed free of charge to every home in the town. The book would not enter the usual distribution channels, never being put up for sale. Even its means of delivery was original, entrusted to the children of the local football club.
